Fernando Garcia a native of New York City, Remains faithful to his Colombian roots and music traditions often reminiscing about his upbringing and frequent travels to South america. Spending part of his life in Bogota and other major cities of Colombia. He remembers embracing the love for music and movement inspired by his mother as she persisted in teaching him to play the “maracas” and percussion as a young child. He recalls the sounds of the caribbean music vibrating hot rhythms in his native Cumbia, Salsa and Mapale. By the time Fernando was 12 years old he had performed in every talent, dance and music show from the Atlantic to the pacific coast bringing his influences into everything else he would do as an artist back in the U.S.
In the late 80’s he was one of the first two male dancers to receive full scholarship to attend the renowned New World School of the Arts. Fernando trained intensively in Ballet, modern, jazz, and caribbean with dance teachers Daniel Lewis and Jeffrey Bratcher.He has performed on stage and television in events such as “Univision- Premio Lo Nuestro” music award show alongside singers Gloria Estefan and Chayanne. He has produced and choreographed several fashion shows in South America incorporating dance, innovative stage designs, and urban music and would be invited to judge dance competitions in South florida. His passion for dance, choreography, and performance was further enhanced by becoming a ballroom dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Miami teaching Rumba, Merengue, Cha-Cha-Cha, tango, Swing, Mambo and Samba.
As a sport he played Soccer for a local Miami League and pursued training in Boxing, fought numerous matches and received proposals to train for the Golden Gloves which he turned in down to continue a career in the performing arts.
Most recently, Fernando was chosen to dance for Don Omar “Zumba” music dance video. He has appeared in Miami beach local magazine and written about in a fitness article. Zumba Corporation chose him to appear in the filming of Zumba Toning and Gold for the DVD collection product series.
Fernando as merged his professional dance training and background with personal fitness focusing on mind, body and spirit. As a private dance instructor, he is committed to teach even the most novices of students to learn to dance latin, american dance styles and international. As a licensed Zumba instructor, he provides a cardio dance workout designed to make you fit and drop the weight while having a blast. In the Zumba workout, he combines fitness body sculpting movements with rhythmic high and low dance routines that will lift your spirits, self-esteem and joy. Fernando will make sure that everyone from young and active adults will learn how to dance salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Reggaeton as well as other dance forms.
Fernando Garcia is the Vice President of Lightscape Etertainment providing full-scale entertainment, DJ, corporate events and video production services. He continues to choreograph for performances, theme parties and private events.Fernando is aware and very thankful for the opportunities he has been given to him and grateful to God for given him the talent and skills to perform and share the experiences he has had as of now.
